About the Role

As a Revenue Tax Specialist, you'll be responsible for a variety of tax-related tasks, including:

  • Analysis and Processing: Analyze and process withholding taxes on revenue-generating events, ensuring accurate calculations and adherence to relevant regulations.
  • Reconciliation: Reconcile withholding tax amounts with income and exemption codes reported to clients, maintaining data integrity.
  • Tax Reporting: Assist in the preparation and filing of tax forms, such as 1099s and 1042s, for accurate tax reporting.
  • System Management: Participate in developing and maintaining tax rules within internal systems, optimizing tax processes and ensuring system efficiency.
  • Client Communication: Communicate tax-related updates and changes to internal and external clients, keeping stakeholders informed of regulatory and reporting requirements.
  • Compliance Management: Contribute to maintaining adherence to all applicable tax regulations, internal controls, and HSBC policies.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential tax risks, ensuring efficient and compliant tax operations.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a tax role, preferably within a financial services environment.
  • Strong understanding of US tax regulations, particularly those related to revenue recognition and withholding taxes.
  • Proficiency in tax software and accounting applications (e.g., MS Excel, tax preparation software).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
